• Derek Stratton has a lifetime's angling experience on rivers all over the world.
• For over 30 years he has taught fly-casting and fly-tying (the latter for both the British Forces Education Service and North Yorkshire Adult Education).
• For the last 22 years he has retailed game angling equipment, trading under the name of 'Thirsk Angler's Centre'.

Professional

• He has tied flies professionally.
• Qualified teacher and a former Head of Department of Rural Environmental Science.
• Qualified coach and a member of G.I.A. in both Salmon and Trout Tuition.

Personal

• Tuition & advice :beginner to expert.
• Experienced with children (and older learners).
• Tuition is given on Cod Beck, the rivers Swale and Ure, and a stillwater venue at Low Osgoodby. 
• Individual & small groups (up to 5) by arrangement.

Derek has an unusual blend of practical skill in game angling and qualified status as a teacher and a coach, coupled with a knowledge of equipment gained over a long experience in the retail trade.
